When Adam Slade says he believes that the owner-builder model is the best way to build a custom home that generates instant equity, he’s speaking from experience. Using the resources and the guidance from Build A Home, Adam successfully managed the construction of his own custom home.
A graduate of Westminster College, Adam entered the world of mortgage financing first working for PNC Bank and later Coldwell Mortgage. One of the top mortgage originators in the country during this time, Adam’s work was recognized by Mortgage Originator Magazine.
At the age of 26, Adam struck out on his own, forming US Mortgage Network in 1997. As the years went by, and the satisfied homeowners began to multiply, Adam also started US Settlement Network and Build A Home.
“When I sit down with clients,” he notes, “It’s exciting to help them plan their future. We know their home has the potential to be a great investment because they are saving so much money by being a part of the construction process.”
Away from the office, Adam can be found playing roller hockey or swimming with his five boys.

DAVE GOULD, NEW CONSTRUCTION SALES CONSULTANT
As the Loan Originator for US Mortgage Network, a sister company of Build A Home, Dave Gould is the main point of contact regarding financing for Build A Home clients. Dave enjoys sitting down with clients who may wonder if it’s even possible to build their dream home.
After twelve years of offering financing to homeowners, six of those years with Build A Home, Dave says the good feeling of helping others build their custom home never goes away. “A typical response is, ‘It’s too good to be true,’” Dave notes. “But I like to show our clients it is true. You can build a custom home, and save a lot of money while doing it.”
Dave is the father to three grown children, a daughter and two sons. In his spare time, he enjoys working out and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
RICH ROOS, HOME DESIGNER
Rich Roos fell in love with homebuilding as a kid when he was hired to sweep out houses that were under construction. Because family members were in the homebuilding business, Rich was surrounded with talk of home construction from an early age. When he was 18, he decided to make homebuilding his life’s work. His career has spanned working with Ryan Homes, Sosso Builders and other custom homebuilders in the Pittsburgh area.
As a home designer, Rich sits down with the client and sketches possible floor plans and elevations for the new home. Rich says, “I’m trying to make the customer happy with a house they like. It’s not about my vision; it’s about theirs.”
Rich is a married father of three grown children, and the proud grandfather of three granddaughters. Away from the office you’ll find him enjoying rooting for his favorite professional sports teams and working in his yard.
